5th International ERT Conference
CESON was a Co-Organizer (along with Kathmandu University, Nepal and Stockholm University, Sweden) of 5th International symposium on Education for Rural Transformation which was held in Kathmandu during September 17-19, 2014. Specific theme for this symposium was Reengineering Education for Flexible Learning and Social Justice. This symposium was organized with the main objective of contributing to build and share the knowledge base on education for rural transformation.
CESON Sharing Series
The first CESON Sharing Series was conducted on 4 January, 2015. The chair-person Prof. Tanka Nath Sharma presented “ Comparative Perspective in Managing Technical Education and Vocational Training in Nepal.” The purpose of this paper was to discuss comparative overview on how TEVT was organized and management arrangements are supposed to relevant in forthcoming federal context of Nepal. The session was highly useful to understand system level management in TEVT and its practices to be adopted in Nepal supplemented by the regional comparative perspectives.
Quality Education Project of Pre-Primary and Primary Schools
CESON completed an evaluation study of Quality Education Project of Pre-primary and Primary Schools in Sunsari, Udyapur and Saptari districts. The project was carried out from April 2011 to March 2014 and was carried out for the Save the Children, New Zealand. The Quality Education Project aimed to create or support an environment so that children of marginalized communities in Udayapur, Sunsari and Saptari districts in eastern Nepal acquire basic education with active participation of their families and the wider community.
CESON successfully accomplished a survey on Peace and Disarmament Education for United Nations Regional Centre for Peace and Disarmament (UNRCPD). The survey was being conducted among 1000 students in 25 schools in five purposively selected districts (Lalitpur, Rasuwa, Doti, Banke, Sunsari) of Nepal.
3rd General Assembly
The 3rd general assembly of CESON was organized on 28th June, 2015 at Kathmandu. The general assembly was started with the welcome speech of chair-person Prof. Tanka Nath Sharma. Prof Sharma envisioned to expand CESON activities in the inter-counties space to make it excellent academic center in Nepal. The program was followed by the briefing of all CESON activities carried out in 2013/14 by the general secretary, Prof. Mahesh Nath Parajuli. He emphasized on the need and prospects of expanding our expertise and activities in contributing knowledge building process and in addressing the concerns of development and wellbeing. Bishal Bhandari, treasure of CESON presented the income and expenditure for the year 2014/15 and estimated budget for the year 2015/16. All the members actively participated in discussion and shared their ideas for leading CESON ahead in future. First and Second General Assembly were organized in Kathmandu.
